Training mango farmers is just one aspect of Responsible Care work in the Philippines.

At Bayer Philippines Inc. - one of the largest health and chemical companies in the Philippines - Responsible Care is taken very seriously. Numerous projects - many of which are unique in the country - have been set up to conserve resources, protect people and safeguard the environment.

Given that both the condition of the country's roads and driving habits in the Philippines are conducive to accidents, numerous training courses in hazardous goods transportation have been conceived and implemented. Such courses and the introduction of a checklist for trucks, coupled with strict monitoring of the rules by employees and plant safety officers, have improved the safety of product delivery from the plant to the end consumer significantly over the last few years.

Regular training courses for farmers on how to use crop protection agents correctly and to dispose of them properly, in tandem with new recycling and waste avoidance concepts, are further key examples of Responsible Care in action in the Philippines.
