Photo reporter Michal Sadowski from Poland's largest daily newspaper was one of the award-winners in the "Ecology through a lens" competition.

Bayer staged its third Forum on Environmental Protection in Warsaw at the beginning of November 2001 with a diverse program of events. The debate, which was attended by 50 environmental experts and policymakers, scientists and representatives from environmental organizations, business and the media focused on the development of environmentally friendly industrial production.

The highlight of the day was the award ceremony in this year's competitions for the "Bayer Environment Prize" and the "Ecology through a lens" photography prize. The delegates and the media were particularly interested in the presentation of the book which includes all of the award-winning environmental initiatives in this year's competition, the publication and distribution of which Bayer has supported for a number of years in Poland.

The new Bayer project for 2001-2002 entitled "Eco Class" was also unveiled. This supports the "Green Certificate" program for schools, which is sponsored by the Polish Ministers for the Environment and Education.

In addition, numerous prizes were awarded for work in the field of environmental protection and for environmental initiatives. All these projects are detailed in the new Bayer book "Die Erde und ihre Freunde - 2002" [Friends of the Earth 2002].
