environmental management at all sites - the many prizes that were
awarded to Bayer in the year 2000 prove that this philosophy is being
acted upon.
In India, Bayer received an important award from the Indian Chemical Manufacturers Association (I.C.M.A.) for excellent HSE management. The key to Bayer's success was its sustained safety at work and protection of the environment, which frequently exceeded national standards and therefore set an example for the chemical industry in India. In Korea, Bayer received an award from the Ministry for Environmental Protection. Deemed particularly noteworthy was the Bayer Academy for Responsible Care, which offers a wide spectrum of seminars and workshops on this subject. Bayer is therefore presenting solutions to assist other Korean companies to improve their own standards and to fulfill legal requirements. In
Spain, Bayer received a "Clean Image" prize for its safety
and environment policies. Bayer S.A. in Brazil also was awarded
a similar prize for environmental management in Belford Roxo.
